Top 5 Favorite Games of 2008!

Posted by TITROTU Jan. 4, 2009 @ 5:10 PM EST

Greetings one and all! It's that time of year again! That's right! Time to name our favorite games of 2008! What's that? You don't give a shit? Oh, well.....piss off then. :)

2009 has already begun and we have an assortment of great new games to look forward to. But what about last year? What were the games that made your jaw drop, your heart race, and your hands sweat? Bottom line, what are you top 5 favorite games of 2008? I'll start us off with my personal list:

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

#5) The World Ends with You- Why change something that works so well? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, Square Enix took a departure from it's more notable Final Fantasy series and tried something new. The result is It's a Wonderfu---I mean, The World Ends with You. This game is quite odd, but in a good way. You control two characters at the same time, one on the top screen (with the D-pad) and one on the bottom (with the touch screen). At first glance it seems a bit weird and confusing, and it is. But after a while you get used to it and start having a boatload of fun. There's many different power-ups to collect and lots of places to explore. Good, wholesome fun. The reason its number five is because slashing at the touch screen can be a little tiring after a while. The World Ends with You, Square Enix's next great franchise?

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

#4 Grand Theft Auto IV - Hookers, drug dealers, gambling, murder.....but enough about my New Year's Party! *BA DUM TSSSHHHH* The GTA series has been success after a success, and that is even more evident in Rockstar's latest action-adventure. The open-world sandbox style of gameplay is nothing but entertaining. To think you can just branch off the main story and go for a drag race or steal a helicopter; the possibilities are endless. Even when you've beaten story mode, (and a great one might I add) YOUR story isn't over. Liberty City is one massive playground you can utilize to its fullest. GTA IV proudly hotwires the number four spot.

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

#3) Mario Kart Wii- Bikes? In my Mario Kart? This series has always been about innovation, whether it's adding two riders per kart or giving you a little plastic wheel to play with. Still, there's no doubt in my mind that Mario Kart Wii is arguably the best Mario Kart to date. With its fact-paced racing, gut-slaughtering items, or it's near perfect online system, veterans of the series, and casuals too, will have a blast playing it. Mario Kart Wii gets rammed with a Blue Shell and finishes in third place.

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

The number 2 game was a tough call it make. It was between Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Both stellar games in the series. While it was nice to return to the world born in Symphonia, I have to give my spot to...

#2) Tales of Vesperia- This game just blew me away with its breathtaking and colorful visuals. Who knew cel-shading could look this.....sexy? The combat stays true to Tales of the Abyss, with satisfying combos and a diverse selection of attacks, all done in real-time. It is immensely addictive and more importantly, just plain fun. While the story seems a little stiff, there's no denying one true fact. Yuri Lowell is one badass motherfucker. (Sorry kids.) Yuri is easily one of the best heroes to come from this series. He's bad, yet good at the same time. He wants to fight for justice, but in his own way. Forever fighting the man and those evil corporations, Tales of Vesperia is my number 2 pick.

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

All right boys and girls, this is it. Are you ready for my number one pick? The answer may surprise you.

#1) Super Smash Bros. Brawl- Are you surprised? No? Me either. Brawl is hands-down the most fun I've ever had from a video game. The wealth of new characters, modes, options, and features just boggles the mind. It's the most jammed-pack game around and only gets better when you have three friends to play with. True, the online could be a bit better, but I'm not too picky. The word "perfection" is tossed around very rarely these days. Is Brawl really perfect? You be the judge on that. As for me, it's my number 1 favorite game of 2008.

--------------------------------------
-------------------------

So, there's my list. What? You still don't give a shit? Oh, well, sorry about that. I'll give you a freebie next time.

Sprite TV 3 submission deadline

Posted by TITROTU Jun. 6, 2008 @ 8:43 PM EDT

ATTENTION ALL CURRENT AND NEW SPRITE TV 3 PARTICIPANTS!

The deadline for submitting entries for is July 6th, exactly one month away. Even after said date, there's still much work to be done. Besides compiling the parts we need to finish the intro and outro, create a new TV with working buttons, and put the final touches on the menu and pre-loader. I guessing the movie will be released roughly around 2-3 weeks after the deadline. That is, if you're all willing to help me. :D

Sprite TV 3 Collab!

Posted by TITROTU Apr. 17, 2008 @ 1:07 PM EDT

Welcome one and all to the final installment of the Sprite TV trilogy! We've come a long way since Sprite TV 1 & 2 and now; it's time to go out with a bang. I'll be hosting this beautiful collab but alas, I can't do it alone. That's where you fine folks come in.

To enter, simply create a sprite short using the following template. (Note: the template may be subject to change, however the document size will remain the same.) After completing your part, email it to me at jesseymeza@yahoo.com. As with all collabs, we have some rules and guidelines you must follow.

Rules:
- Your part must be humorous. There's nothing more boring than a dry sprite skit. If you can't write anything funny, get a friend to do so. If you don't have any friends, get off the internet.

- Name all your symbols. Oh GOD you must name all your symbols! If you submit a part to me and the symbols aren't named, sorry, it'll get rejected. Even if it's awesome.

- Please, please, PLEASE, don't use any sound clips from TV shows or movies! (Music is fine) I cannot stress that enough. The leader of Sprite TV 2 stated the same thing from the beginning, but as production ended, he let more people slip using Family Guy quotes. I will not. By using clips like that you're basically repeating the same joke. I want this installment to be more original than the first two.

- Each participant in this collab may only submit a maximum of three parts. What's the point of calling it a collab if only four people are making everything? Once you've reached your maximum, if you feel you could make a better part and would like to replace an existing one, email me and we can work something out.

Guidelines:
- Try to stay away from using well-established characters like Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man. Though their use is not banned, it'll get tiring to see nothing but Mario parodies.

- Remember, just because you make a part and send it to me, it doesn't mean you're guaranteed in. I will email you back with approval or denial. If you get denied, don't give up. Simply create a better part. I may even help you improve.

- All collabs take time to make. Just because you finished all three parts, it doesn't mean you can repeatedly ask, "When's it gonna be released?" I can safely say that it won't be done for a few weeks, months even. Take your time with your part. Don't rush. There is no deadline as of yet. I do tend on announcing one in the future, but for right now take it easy.

- Look for sprite sheets here and voice actors here.

Now then, besides the parts, I'll be looking for people to help me create the menu, outro, and credits. I'll be handling the intro. Helping out with these features will not count towards your three part max.

Technical crap:
- 700 x 400 document size
- 24 FPS
- Length can vary. (Not too long, mind you.)

Alright then, I think that's everything. Now.....GET TO WORK SLAVES!!! >:(

Today is Ike Day!

Posted by TITROTU Apr. 1, 2008 @ 2:09 AM EDT

Who needs April Fool's Day? The real celebration is Ike Day! People around the globe have been rejoicing over Ike and now it's your turn to show some Ike love! Go play Super Smash Bros. Brawl online, but remember; only Ike's are allowed. No one else. If you see any non-Ike's be sure to pummel them into the ground! Ike Day will be a day to remember!

UPDATE:
...yeah....so I wouldn't call Ike Day a complete failure, more like a moderate success. About 1 in every 4 random matches I had featured 3 Ike's, some all 4. Why so little numbers? Probably because I only promoted it for about 2 weeks. Also, Brawl isn't out in Europe or Australia. What does this all mean? Next year will be better. That's right, I'm pulling for Ike Day 2009. I have a whole year to prepare for this. By this time next year, you WILL see nothing but Ike's online. I'll probably end up changing the event to April 2nd. What was I smoking to think people who chose Ike Day over April Fool's?

Oh well. See you next year!

April 1st is Ike Day

Posted by TITROTU Mar. 21, 2008 @ 7:58 PM EDT

Spread the word.

April 1st will be Ike Day. During that day I want everyone who plays Super Smash Bros. Brawl online, with friends or with anyone, to select Ike as their character. Why? Cause it's Ike Day, that's why! Ike is clearly the most popular character from the roster. There is never a time where I haven't encountered an Ike user online. Whether it be an Ike mainer or spammer, he's everywhere! So let's give him is own day. Why pick April Fool's Day? Again, why not? I guess this could be considered a prank of sorts. People who think they'll get a friendly match online will come face to face with nothing but Ikes.

April 1st, play as Ike for all your battles. Record the fun and put it on YouTube. Spread the word. Ike Day will be a day to remember.
